This photo album is from the early 1950's when the USCGC EASTWIND (WAGB-279) provided support for "Operation BLUE JAY," an operation to construct Thule Air Base in Greenland. What are most interesting to me are the photos of the Native Eskimo/Inuit people in their furs and kayaks, living in what appears to be sod houses: (again these are only some of the photos)
